Hey, it is a good school. Not entirely sure it is aware of what it wants to be, it seems. Though I may just been misjudging it myself.
Having hung around UNC-Greensboro and Guilford College during the impressionable college years, the "college crowd" -- comprised largely of artsie-shmartsie politico, freefall hipster types has always been the classic illustration of "college" to my mind.
And at the moment I arrived at UNC-Wilmington, I felt as if I had erred upon a massive misunderstanding, as it is a school that is decidedly apart from that sort of crowd.
In retrospect, however, it was a thankful departure. Nothing against the "collegiate" crowd in particular, but ensconsing oneself too deeply in any particular sect or group generally leads to one ending up somewhere way outfield.
