Breaks are a strange time when you are in college. You work so hard to maintain healthy human relationships with strangers and friends at school only to find yourself surrounded by the same people you lived through high school. The dichotomy of one's life never seems more apparent than when you arrive home only to find yourself in the same places you were three years prior.
I'm satisfied with the manner in which it has worked out thus far. I've kept the people who meant a great deal to me during those days close enough to consider them a valuable part my contemporary life. I've even maintained some of the healthier rituals, such as visiting the usual coffee houses on a near-nightly basis. And although everything and everyone has changed in their own ways, it does not feel like one does not belong. Perhaps that is what makes it "home".
